IT STARTED IN 2015...

The name was Freedom Fitness Elite, and the church was Freedom Fellowship in Virginia Beach, VA. Founder Matthew Gay wanted to apply his knowledge and passion for fitness at his church. So he asked his pastor if he could start a free workout and devotional on Saturday mornings, and the rest is history. The ministry grew and brought people who weren't going to his church from all over. It quickly became a fellowship people committed to and started seeing real results from.

To fill the earth with churches that are engaged in reducing the level of sickness in our world as they strive to make disciple through gospel-minded health ministries.

Our Mission

The problem we must address...

Chronic illness runs rampant in our world, and while the fitness, pharmaceutical, and medical industries are trying to solve this problem, they are failing. The church is the largest organization in the world and holds key answers to the root problems leading to the physical condition of so many people, but the majority isn't involved in the fight for people's physical well-being. The world needs Jesus.

Our Vision

Fit Church aims to see people set free from their bondage to sin through the preaching of God’s word, the ministry of health and fitness, and their connection to others who share their desire for wholeness. Our vision is to create a network of churches that are willing and equipped to aid men and women in their pursuit of wholeness. We need more men and women of faith to stand with those who are struggling with their health, and we, as an organization, are dedicated to equipping them to provide such a service. The church is a hospital for the broken. A place where people come to find freedom and wholeness in the loving arms of a Savior who alone can cleanse them from their sins.


We believe that sin has infected mankind in such a way that our behaviors have become not only spiritually toxic but mentally and physically as well. Through our initiative, churches in every country will be able to guide those who have fallen subject to the effects of sin in caring for their bodies to flourish in a manner that honors God and glorifies Christ. We see souls saved through fitness ministries, doctors discontinuing their prescriptions, and lives being saved. Our hope and mission is to see the world beholding Christ because of the work his body has done to fight for the well-being of all humanity. We know that, as they do, many will come to see him as they should, and he will be placed on the throne of their hearts where he belongs. For this do we strive, and to him do we look for his hand in bringing this to fruition.

Prepare

Step two

Once you join our ministry program, we walk you through the process of seeking approval from leadership, preparing yourself to lead, and launching your ministry with confidence.

Launch

Step three

Launch your ministry with a transformative 12-week program that brings biblical principles, healthy strategies, and authentic community together cohesively. Then join Fit Church ministries around the world in a united sequence of prayerfully and purposefully planned weekly gatherings designed to be led by you and enjoyed by all who attend.

Meet Matthew Gay!

Founder of FIT Church United

Matthew Gay, born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, is the founder of Fit Church United, the author of the book “Fit Church: Destroying the Division Between Following Christ and Living a Healthy Life,” a husband to Katielynne Gay, and a father to Zyon and Moriah Gay. His vision is to see the church well and to see more people come to know Christ through the church's efforts to help them heal. He believes the church is the missing link to the world's fight against Chronic illness, and that without the church humanity will fail to discover the real solution, which is Christ.
